Edmarc Hospice for Children believes a family faced with a child's life-threatening illness should be kept together whenever possible. That's why we provide whatever's necessary to keep children in their familiar, loving home environment. We assess each family's social, emotional, spiritual, financial and other needs, and provide professional support in meeting these needs. Following are the programs that can help you or someone you know.

Edmarc Bereavement Support

While nothing can fill the gap caused by the loss of a child, many bereaved parents tell us that meeting with others who are going through the same thing does help. Being able to talk about their child in a supportive atmosphere and perhaps guide other parents, somehow helps them through their own healing process. All families who have experienced the loss of a child, even if their child was never an Edmarc patient, may take advantage of our support system which includes:

Home visits and other one-on-one contact with newly bereaved families
Personal contact on special anniversaries: child's birthday, Mother's day, Father's Day, etc.
Separate support groups for mothers, fathers, and families
Peace by Piece, support group for grieving children and teens, a joint effort of Edmarc and Jewish Family Service of Tidewater (JFS)
Annual memorial service for each child
Camp M.A.G.I.C., a weekend away for bereaved families
Weekend retreats for bereaved parents
