Friday we had a visit from some very special volunteers.  They were members of Girl Scout Troop 206 (Daisy).  The girls were taught the importance of selling cookies, raising money, making sound investments and giving back.  So not only did they donate yummy girl scout cookies, they also used monies raised to purchase new bedding for one of Edmarc’s little ones.  Truly this was about kids giving to kids.  Hey girls, we even added girl scout cookies to the Easter baskets we delivered to all the Edmarc kids on Saturday.
Many thanks for your ‘sweet’ generosity giving ‘sweet’ treats.

They sold purple bracelets honoring their son Noah and chose to give the money raised to support the good work of Edmarc. We are eternally grateful for all their hard work and efforts in raising $1,166! That means they sold 1,166!!! Way to go Mosley family…you truly are special to us!

Spring was in the air at this year’s Spring Fling held at the Edmarc office at London House in Olde Towne Portsmouth, on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Families gathered to share the day of food, fun and of course, a visit from the Easter Bunny, who sat for pictures with the children of all ages.  And there was even a special appearance by our beloved mascot, Wags.  Volunteers from KPMG sponsored the event, with volunteers from the Nansemmond River High School Voice Club and Landstown High School leading the Easter egg hunt. We even had a visit from one of the local Girl Scout Troops who dropped off some sweet treats non other than the infamous girl scout cookies. The weather forecast had called for rain that day, with hopeful staff and volunteers keeping their fingers crossed that the weather would hold out. It proved to be a gorgeous sun-filled afternoon right up to the concluding moments of the party. Our thanks go out to all sponsors and volunteers as well as families who made Spring Fling 2013 a day to remember.

According to Punxsutawney Phil, our favorite groundhog, Spring should be just around the corner! With spring comes many opportunities to volunteer at Edmarc. From landscaping our Tribute and Infinity gardens, helping families with spring cleaning, or getting ready for Easter, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer. I hope to see you all soon!
